MILLER Mr. Miller is a native of Iowa, being born on January 15, 1859, and in that state he received his educational discipline, taking a degree from one of its leading institutions. Soon after completing his education he took up the work of the instructor and in 1889 he established the Denver City Business College in Denver and one year later relinquished the management of this institution, soon taking the superintendency of the Healds Business College in San Francisco, and also serving as manager of the San Francisco Business College. In 1897 he was admitted to the practice of law at Olympia, Washington, and soon after that came to Baker City, where he formed a partnership with Judge Olmsted, in which capacity he has continued since. At the establishment of the Chamber of Commerce in Baker City he was chosen secretary and has filled that position continuously subsequently thereto. He is also interested in some mining properties. In political affairs he takes an active interest and has served for one term as city councilman, where he did much to commend his ability and integrity. He was very active in retrenchment as to expense of city government; proposed the plan of the city owning her own light plant; knocked out the fifty year franchise of the electric light company; let the contract of city water at a much reduced rate; and also did several other important matters during this term. The marriage of Mr. Miller and Miss Ropena Graves, a native of Iowa, was consummated on May 22, 1886, and to them has been born one child, Mary B. Mr. Miller is one of the leading attorneys of eastern Oregon and although he has spent but a few years in the practice in this locality he enjoys a lucrative patronage and his clientage is constantly and rapidly increasing, as is also his popularity wherever he is known. --End--
