Co. of Chicago. page 268 Eugene Sisley The son of respected pioneers parents and himself a native of Baker county. Our subject was born in Baker City on May 27, 1867, the son of Lewis J. and Martha (Calner [sic Culver]) Sisley. His early life was spent on the parental homestead, and though his physical powers received their fullest development in the invigorating tussle with nature's opposing forces, his educational advantages were rather limited. At the early age of sixteen he began the battle of life on his own account, following farming and stock raising and giving some attention to mining enterprises. About five years ago he removed to his present place of abode and there he now has a very good quarter section of land, which he is improving as rapidly as possible, and compelling to yield the abundant harvests of which it is capable. The marriage of our subject was solemnized on June 15, 1887, Miss Minnie M., a daughter of Martin and Mary H. Hill, and a native of Indiana, then becoming his wife. They have had six children, Gladdys E., Hazel G., Maxwell E., deceased, Lettie H., Frank and Goldie.
