All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com September 7, 2007, 7:45 am Oregonina March 18,1893 March 17, 1893 She Accuses her Paramour Of The Murder Of Her Husband Baker City,Or.,-March 17-The latests news regarding the murder of Alfred Shaw,near Canyon City,Grant County,was brought last evening by persons arriving from the scene.Since the incarceration of the man Gallin,who was in the employ of Shaw,and the arrest also of Mrs.Shaw,the latter has made a confesion,stating that Gallin,with whom she had been initmate,killed her husband with ahammer and then carried the lifeless body to the barn.He then dispatched a boy to town to spread the report that Shaw had been kicked to death by a horse.Iin the meantime the murderer burned the handle of the hammer and threw the head of it in the deep snow,where it was afterwrds found.Mrs.Shaw was twice a divorced woman becoming the wife o f Shaw, som efour months ago. Her first husband was Al MOsher,convicted in Grant county ona criminal charge and sent to the penitentiary.Later she married one Haskins,at Baker City,who soon left her.Her reputation then was very bad.She is a small,dark complected woman about 40 years of age,bar countenance indiciating low instincts.
