David Samuelsen - April 2002 ************************************************************************ Two notices Eagle Valley News; Richland, OR; 17 Sept 1914 Pete Kippes is Dead As the NEWS goes to press, news comes of the death of Pete Kippes a respected citizen of Eagle Valley who passed from this earth on Wednesday, september 16. His was a life, the passing of which cannot be chronicaled in this brief space and so, more later. Eagle Valley News; Richland, OR; 24 Sep 1914 In-re L. A. Kippes Lawrence Ambrose Kippes "Pete" was born in Germany 62 years ago, but came to this country when a young man. Aside from two nephews, he has no living relatives in this immediate part of the country. He was universally respected and loved by those who knew him. His funeral services were held last Friday in the Presbyterian Church at Halfway, the Rev. Dr. Ward officiating, and his remains were placed in the Pine Valley Cemetery. Death came as the result of a combined attack of pneumonia and appendicitus.
