Harpham, 74, a Baker resident for the past 70 years, died at her home this morning. Mrs. Harpham was born in Harrisburg, Or., July 26, 1868. She married Samuel Harpham in Baker in 1888. Mr. Harpham died in 1900 at Council, Idaho. Mrs. Harpham was a gold star mother. Her son, Bert L. Harpham, private first class in the 32nd division, was killed during the last world war in 1918 on the battlefield of Juvigny, France. Mrs. Harpham had visited the grave of her son in France. She was a member of the Episcopal church and of the Baker City Rebekah lodge. Mrs. Harpham is survived by two daughters, Ora L. Knight of San Francisco and Rena V. McCallum of Baker; three brothers, James R. Hearing of Haines, Earl F. Hearing of McMinnville and Samuel L. Hearing of Vernonia; two sisters, Hattie Yankey and Nell Stanley, both of Haines; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in the West and company chapel at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. Thomas Baxter will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope cemetery.
