Holgate, on the Base Line road, Friday, September 25, was conducted yesterday at Gresham, Rev. W.T. Scott officiating. With his wife he crossed the plains of Oregon in 1852, settling near where Corvallis now stands and then went to Alsea Bay. He came to the home of his son on the Base Line road last July. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Holgate, all of whom survive him. They are: L. D. Holgate, of The Dalles; Lindon Holgate of Peoria, Or.; E.D. Holgate, Base Line Road; Mrs. Alva Steeprow, of Alsea; James L. Holgate, of Lutgens; Miss Eunice Emmitt, of Buell, Or.; Norman J. Holgate, of Culdesac, Idaho; Miss Lillian Clasen, of Long Lake, Minn.; Otto L.B. Holgate, Of Portland.
