J.B Mooney,Molalla former,was found guilty of murder in the second degree for 
the death of his former wife,Mrs Martha K.French,by a jury in Circuit Judge 
Tuckers court late Thursday.The verdict carries a maximum sentence of life 
imprisonment.Judeg Tucker will sentence Mooney Monday
The case went to the jury Thursday afternoon after the attorneys for the state 
and the defendant had presented their final arguments.the tragedy took place 
last November at the home of Mrs French,No.1932 East Morrison Street.
Mooney declared on the stand that he did not know who had shot Mrs French and 
himself.For several weeks after the killing,Mooney was confined to the 
hospital with a bullet wound in his head.Counsel for Mooney said the defendant 
Mrs french because he was insane.
Documents were introduced into the court to show that Mooney had previuosly 
been convicted of threatening the life of his ex wife
