Funeral Services Held For John Alsted
Funeral services for the late John Edward Karsten Alsted,who died at his home 
in Broadacres,Oregon,on Tuesday,January 8,1924,after an illness of several 
months,were held at the Lutheran Church of this city,at 10 o'clock Friday 
morning,January 11th,Rev H Rogen,pastor of the Church,officiating,with 
internment in the Zoar Lutheran Cemetary near this city.
John Edward Karsten Alstad,was born in Tronhjems,Morway,on February 
14,1855,and at the timne of his death was 68 years,10 months and 24 days of 
age.He came to the United States in 1871,settling in the state of 
Minnesota,where he lived for several years,where he was united in marriage to 
Karoline Gulbrandsen,in 1878.In 1879 he moved to North dakota where he lived 
until the sprinf of 1909,when he came to Canby,where he lived for 13 
years.About two years ago he moved ona farm near Broadacres,where he made his 
home until his death.
Mr Alstad was well and favourably known in this city,where he made a host of 
friends during his many years of residence here.he was also a member of the 
local Lutheran Church.
He leaves to mourn his loss,his wife,one step daughter,mrs Louis Hagen,of 
BroadAcres;two brothers,one  in Canada,and the youngest brother from North 
Dakota,who was present at the funeral and helped care for him during his 
sickness and was present at his deathbed,he is also survived by two sisters 
who live in Christinia,Norway
