Miss Frances Robinson, daughter of Mr and Mrs E.G.Robinson,who formerly lives at Canby,is to be married June 27,1925,to Delmer Lance Powers. This announcement was made last Friday afternoon by Mrs Robinson at their beautiful home,Robinwood,on the Willamette river opposite Wilsonville, when mrs Robinson was entertaining a number of Canby,Aurora and Wislonville friends. One of the most gracious things of the announcements is that it shows the democracy of the Robinson family when Mrs Robinson says she wants all of Frances friends to come to this wedding if they desire. This makes a broad invitation, and the wholeheartedness of the Robinson family is thrown into it. Miss Robinson is one of the most beautiful and talented girls that Canby has ever been able to boast about, her unusual beauty being recognized in the beauty contest carried on by the Oregonian in the fall of '23,when the contest narrowed down to strong competition between her and the winning girl. Her unusual ability has been recognized by her high standing at Stanford University, where she has been studying for several years,Her special articles or theses have shown her to be one of the outstanding pupils of Stanford University, and the students and the faculty in particular have recognized with pleasure her unusual ability. The fortunate young man is Delmer Lance Powers, who is of an old pioneer family, his great grandfather having come to Oreogn in 1843.He is a geologist, having taken his A.B Degree at the University of Oregon.and last year received his Master degree at Stanford University. While he was at Stanford he was elected to membership in the Sigma XIs,a National honorary Scientific Society.he is also a member of the Geological and Mining Society of American Universities, and is at present Superintendant of Schools at Palouse,Washington. The date for the wedding has been set for June 27th,1925,and it will take place at St Pauls Episcopal church in Oregon City, where Miss Robinson has had her membership and has been a regular attendant when she is not at Stanford University. Mr E.G Robinson, father of the bride to be is president of the Molalla Electric Company and is well and favourably known by pracitcally everyone using electricity for light and power between Woodburn and Oregon City, his particular plant serving the communities and nearly all the residents, including the farmers, throughout this section. The Her;ad takes great pleasure in extending best wishes for these fortunate younf people on the start up on their partnership journey, and when their diamond wedding is celebrated we trust it may find them in perfect health and the fruition of years well spent ******them with glory Additional Comments: Photo of Miss Robinson in paper File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/or/clackamas/vitals/marriages/robinson206gmr.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/orfiles/ File size: 3.6 Kb
