E.O. CLINTON BURIED AT NORWAY YESTERDAY Took Own Life At Her Home Here Shortly After Noon Monday Funeral services were conducted at Schroeder Bros. Mortuaries in Myrtle Point aat 1:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon, by Rev. A.A. Baker, for Mrs. E.O. Clinton, who died at her home just above the Smith plant on the highway Monday afternoon. Interment was in the Norway Cemetery. No reason is known for her act of drinking a bottle of Lysol., which resulted in her death. She was found lying on the bed, gasping for breath, by Ray Clinton's daughter shortly after noon. When she asked the victims four-year old son what his mother had done he muttered something and the girl asked, "Do you mean Lysol?" and he said, "yes," that she got it from the medicine cabinet where a bottle was found on the floor. Dr. Richmond was at once summoned but the effect of the poison had rendered Mrs. Clinton unconscious and she was barely alive when he arrived. Apparently in the best of spirits about 11 o'clock that morning when she was laughing and joking with friends, what may have prompted the fatal act will never be known. Born Velma Odra Barklow, Feb. 20, 1915, at Gravelford, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Barklow, of Myrtle Point, and a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Barklow, pioneer residents of the valley. Besides her husband and son and parents, she is survived by brothers and sisters in Myrtle Point.
