Southern Coos County American, Dec. 15, 1927
Marcus L. Brown, a well known resident of Camas Valley and veteran of
the Civil War, died at his home Dec. 7, 1927, age 87 years and 7 months.
Born in Illinois and during the war served with the 25th Missouri
infantry. He then settled in western Kansas and later moved to western
Nebraska.
He moved to Camas Valley about 29 years ago where he engaged in
farming. His wife, Eliza Brown, died 8 years ago. Survived by 5 sons:
Alva I. and Arthur, McKinley, Ore; Louis E., Marshfield; Wilfred and
Frank, Camas Valley and 2 daughters: Eunice Church and Bessie of Camas
Valley. Buried in Noah cemetery.
