Walter R. Esterlein 
June 16, 1927 – November 22, 2009 

At his request, there will be no public services for Walter R. Esterlein, 82 
of Coquille. Walter was born June 16, 1927 in Chicago, IL to Walter C. 
and Cora Mae (Seiner) Esterlein. He died November 22, 2009 in Coquille. Walter 
served his country during WWII in the Air Force. After his 
discharge he worked in Civil Service for over 20 years as an electronic 
technician at various government installations. Walter married Sandra Bruins 
on August 6, 1966 in Boulder, CO. He retired from Point Mugu Naval Air Station 
in 1992 and moved to Coquille. He was an avid reader, mentor, 
handyman, creative writer and ham-radio operator. Walter is survived by his 
wife Sandra; children, Connie Rai Carter, Lon Russell Esterlein, Tim 
Michael Esterlein, Lori Lyn Greenstone, Valerie Norris, and Debbie Davis; 
brother, Robert C. Esterlein; grandson, Justin Norris among 12 others; 
and numerous great grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of 
Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service – Coquille Chapel, 396-3846.
