Arlene Francis Martindale 
March 21, 1933 – September 22, 2009 

  Memorial Service for Arlene Francis Martindale, 76, of Coquille, will be 
held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Holy Name Catholic Church, 
and a graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Norway Cemetery. She was 
born on March 21, 1933 in Wagner, South Dakota to John and Josephine (Burian) 
Bartunek. She died September 22, 2009 in Coquille. Arlene was class 
Valedictorian at Wagner High School in South Dakota. 
  She married Richard Martindale on July 1, 1952 in Reno. She was a tenured 
loan officer for 20 years at Coos Curry Federal Credit Union, now Oregon First 
Community Credit Union, retiring in 1995. She enjoyed many activities 
including traveling the northwest and Canada. She was a big fan of the Oregon 
Ducks football team, knowing more about the team and the game than the average 
fan. Her family did a lot of things together with Arlene being the core of all 
that took place. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. 
  For those of you who never saw the inside of her home during the Holidays, 
she decorated it to the “T”. Her holiday dinners were such that no one could 
compete with. Arlene is survived by her husband, Richard; daughter, Dawn; 
daughter, Lisa and husband, Randy; Son, Tim; granddaughters, Lacee, Brittnee 
and Alaina and great grandson, Joshua. Arrangements are under the direction of 
Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service – Coquille Chapel, 396-3846.
