Wheeler Age 63 At Rest 1903 ********************* Found a grave site in a large area across the street from the Catholic Church on Old County Road in Brookings, Oregon. I've noticed the grave for years...just never stopped before...the stone is so worn we had to use pencil & paper to rub the stone before we could see the name and date. Seph Fink born March 7, 1889 died June 23, 1920 ******************** VAN PELT INDIAN CEMETERY This cemetery is located on Hoffeldt Street in Harbor, Oregon...To get there, if you are going North on Highway 101, turn right towards the mountains. Go as far as you can on Hoffeldt Street; there is a steep paved driveway, don't go up there, but turn right at the dirt road. Go almost to the top of this dirt road, there is a little cemetery on the right There's a wire fence around the cemetery with one gate. There are large trees within the cemetery with one large tombstone standing in the middle. The names of the parents, children and grandchildren and what looks like in-laws are recorded on the one stone. The way I have recorded them...this is how they are recorded on the one tall stone. It is a very peaceful place where squirrels are running about gathering their food for the winter...deer standing near the trees outside of the cemetery watching us...even a tree house, or what remains of one outside of the fenced area...a very peaceful place indeed.
