They were Indian friends of the Rice family. Their names are Pequa Pete, John Tim Tim, Shalifol, Molly Gangiaw (Gagnaw) also known as Indian Molly. She lived in what was called Gangrow Gulch, so the name may have been closer to Gangrow. Harrison Rice’s Stone say the following: Harrison Rice, son of John and Roxanna Waite Rice. Born Aug. 18, 1816 on a small farm in Franklin Co. Mass. 1838 moved to Putnam Co. Ill. 1838 1841 married. 1853 crossed the plains with his family and settled in Rice’s Gulch, Or. where he resided until his death. He was killed at his home by a horse which he had ridden to water, becoming frightened and running with him against a bar and injuring his so severely that he died the next morning, Feb 19, 1881. A carpenter by trade, followed stock raising in Oregon. Wife Martha Ann Rice, daughter of Stephen D. and Nancy A. (Ross) Willis. Children: Sylvester W;. Adelia A. (Crawford); Ann M.
