Ryan The friends of Mrs. B.F. Ryan were shocked to learn of her death from influenza complications. The respected lady, daughter of pioneer parents, was the wife of Engineer B.F. Ryan, employed here for many years by the Southern Pacific Railroad Company. Mrs. Ryan had been ill a few days, complications from influenza resulted in her death. Mrs. Ryan is survived by her husband, Benjamin F. Ryan; her aged parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Thompson, of Brockway; and by three brothers and three sisters: Mrs. Smith, of Portland; Mrs. Molly Carpenter, of Seaside, and Mrs. Agnes Gooch, of California; and Delbert, Goodwin and Israel Thompson. The funeral will be held at the Civil Bend Cemetery, near Brockway (Winston, Oregon), on Tuesday, October 29, 1918 at 11 o'clock a.m., conducted by Pastor J.C. Spencer, of the First M.E. Church of Roseburg. Mrs. Ryan was a niece (by marriage) of Sheriff Geo. K. Quine, and was also related to several other prominent pioneer families of Douglas County.
