Yoncalla,Or.Oct 12,-George W.Thompson, a well known citizen of Douglas County, 
died here October 8, aged 54 years. He was born while his parents were on 
their way to oregon across the plains on July 26,1850. he resied at Portland 
until 1870, and then with his parnets moved into Douglas County and lcoated at 
Red Hill,five miles southeast of Yoncalla. here in 1873 he married Miss Mary 
A.Thiele, whose parents likewise were early poneers of the West. For more than 
20 years they have lived and toiled toether that had been the scene of their 
struggles, their successes and the comfort of their riper years. The wife and 
nine children survive him.
