PIONEER HOTEL WOMAN PASSES AT DAYVILLE  July 5, 1929

Mrs. M. E. Glover, who was from many years proprietress of the Cottage hotel and
later of the Glover hotel at Dayville, and known by practically everyone in this
section, passed away last Friday at the hospital in Prairie City.

Mrs. Glover had been at Prairie City for some time undergoing medical treatment,
but it is thought that a fall she received only a week before was the real cause
of death.

Funeral services were held in Dayville Sunday morning at 9:30 and interment was
made at 1 o’clock at the Caleb cemetery up east of Mitchell, where her husband
and two children were buried many years ago. A number of Mitchell people
attended the funeral services.

Mrs. Glover was a real pioneer in this section. For many years she operated the
Cottage hotel at Dayville. Later the name was changed to the Glover hotel, and a
year or two ago she gave up the hotel business and retired. She is survived by
one daughter, Mrs. C. A. Valade of Dayville; one son, George Glover of Dayville;
one brother, George Trosper of Antone; a number of grandchildren and one
great-grandchild. One son, Arthur Edward Glover, member of Company C Seventh
Regiment, U. S. Engineers, was killed in action in the late war, on the day
before the armistice, and the Legion post at Fossil is named in his honor.
