Phil Ryan officiating. Mr. Valade was born September 11, 1898 in Dayville. On December 19, 1920, he was married to Charlotte Blanche Cummings at Dayville. One son, Earl Corbett Valade, was born of this union. Mrs. Valade died in 1958. He lived in the John Day Valley most of his life outside of the ten years that he worked for the State Highway Department. Then he and his family traveled and lived throughout the state. After leaving the highway department he worked on his father'’ ranch until he started work as a mill worker, which he continued until his retirement. On March 21, 1969, he was married a second time to Effie Tanler of John Day. He is survived by his widow, Effie; one son, Earl Corbett Valade of John Day; two sisters, May Robertson of Woodburn and Edna Blaser of Redding, California; two brothers, Darrell Valade of Cove and Walter Valade of Dayville; six grandchildren, Mervin, Vonnie, Jan, Rick, Tracy and Cathy Valade, all of John Day; one great grandchild, Wendy Sue. He was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph.
