E. Ankeny - Hon. Henry Ankeny, president of the Medford National Bank of this city, died at Portland this morning. A message received by John S. Orth conveyed the sad news, but gave no further particulars. Mr. Ankeny was for many years a resident of Jackson county and has been prominently identified with its mining and financial interests. He was a staunch Republican and took a deep interest in county and state politics, and missed by a narrow margin the nomination for governor of the state some four years since. He was ever honored by a seat in the councils of the party and was highly esteemed for his integrity and business capacity. He was at one time the owner of the Sterling mine, but sold the property two years ago and removed to Eugene. He suffered a stroke of paralysis about a year ago from which he never recovered and which was the immediate cause of his death. He leaves a wife and son, Frank, at Eugene and five daughters, Mrs. John S. Orth and Mrs. A. H. Miller of Medford, Mrs. Frank Crump of Applegate, Mrs. Roscoe Cantrall of Klamath county, and Miss Gladys Ankeny of Eugene.
