Mrs. Beale has been in ill health for the past 14 years, and during that time everything possible was administered for the regaining of her health. Nine years of her sickness was spent with her son, Corbet Smith, and during the last three years of her sickness she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Viola Holm, and son, Corbet Smith, who have been with her constantly, giving every possible aid. She was born in California on November 13, 1865, and at the time of her death was 63 years, seven months and seven days of age. At the age of one year she, with her parents, came to Oregon and settled in the Applegate district, where she spent her early life. She was married twice, first to Mr. Smith and later to Mr. Beale. Later they lived in the Eagle Point district, and for the past 21 years she had been living at Butte Falls. She was one of the earliest pioneers of this state, and especially southern Oregon, having lived here for 62 years. She will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, good to everyone she met, and very devoted to her family. There were six children, five of whom are living, two daughters and three sons: Mrs. Nellie Morehouse of Butte Falls, Mrs. Viola Holm of Butte Falls, David Smith and Corbett [sic] Smith of Butte Falls and Polk Smith of Aloha, Wash., and one son, Harvey Smith, deceased. The funeral services will be held at the Perl Funeral home, Sunday, June 23, at 1 p.m., Rev. Raymond S. Rees officiating. Interment in Butte Falls cemetery.
