Bernhardt, 44, passed away to be with his mom December 18, 2011. He was born May 26, 1967, in Bandon, Ore., to Delores Bernhardt and Tom Leonard. Wayne lived in Eagle Point from 1969 until he graduated from Eagle Point High School in 1985. After graduation, Wayne joined the Navy and served until 1994. While serving in the Navy, Wayne spent four years working with dogs for security sweeps and military patrol. During that time he earned many awards for dog handling and service to his country. In 1987, Wayne married Kim Willits and they had two children, Marquelle and Benjamin, who were the pride and love of his life. In 2002 Wayne married Dana Goss, of Colorado, who survives him. At the time of his death, he was working as a civilian contract worker in security and dog handling at Camp Salerno Airfield in Afghanistan. Wayne was preceded in death by his mom, Deloris; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. He is survived by wife, *Dana Danielle Goss (Bernhardt) of Peyton, Colorado; daughter, Marquelle Lynn (Jared) Hartman, of Beaverton, Ore.; son, Benjamin Thomas Bernhardt, of Beaverton, Ore.; brother, Ron (Carmen) Bernhardt, of Henderson, Nev.; sister, Diana (Willie) Debrick, of Eagle Point, Ore.; sister, Nancie Jenkins, of Eugene, Ore.; five nieces; one nephew; and several great nieces and nephews. Wayne left all of us too soon but is at peace with Mom and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday January 14, 2012 1:00 p.m. at Conger Morris Central Point, 800 S. Front St., with Sgt. Mark Dalton officiating.
