THURSDAY Funeral services for Mary Ann Brown, 84, who passed away at the family home in Eagle Point Monday after an illness of several weeks, will be held Thursday at Perl Funeral Home at 2 p.m. The Rev. Harry W. Hansen of the Presbyterian church will have charge of the service and interment will be in the Jacksonville cemetery. Mrs. Brown was well known in the valley's civic, church and lodge circles. A member of the Eastern Star for 66 years, and of Adarel chapter in Jacksonville for more than 50 years, she was one of the order's oldest and most loyal members. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Jackson county educational board for the past 20 years and a member of the Eagle Point school board for many years. In her more active years, Mrs. Brown worked with many civic organizations and projects and spent much time helping with the sick. The deceased was a native of Lancaster, England, having been born there Oct. 11, 1860. She was brought to this country in 1862 and Aug. 31, 1876, married Charles Taylor of Austin, Nev. The couple came to Jackson county in October of 1880. The Taylors were the parents of five children. Mrs. Brown's marriage to Royal Brown took place Oct. 14, 1896, and one child, Hazel, was born to this union. With the exception of a few years spent in Portland, the Browns resided in Eagle Point since 1896. Survivors are Mr. Brown, Hazel Light, Santa Barbara; Mattie Taylor Brown, Eagle Point; Lottie Taylor Rippey, Baker, Ore.; Carl Taylor, Portland. Two children, Esttella and Robert Earl Taylor, preceded their mother in death. Mr. Taylor and Mrs. Rippey arrived in Medford last night.
