Joe has been sick for over three months and his friends had been hoping he would regain his health, although it looked doubtful. Everything was done for his comfort that medical aid and loving hands could do. He was born in Rogue River March 27, 1895 and was 30 years, 2 months, 2 days of age at the time of his death. Joe has spent his entire life here and the large crowd that attended his funeral and the many beautiful flowers expressed the friendship everyone bore for him. In 1921 he was married to Miss Bessie Seaman and to this union was born one daughter, Betty Jean, who with the wife, survive. He is also survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Burkhart, one sister, Mrs. Clyde Galbreath, one brother, Claude A., and his grandfather and grandmother Burkhart, all of Rogue River; also his brother, William, of Texas. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, Rev. Grayand and Rev. Wilson officiating. Interment in the Rogue River cemetery. Mr. Burkhart was a member of the Woodville Lodge I.O.O.F. No. 217, also Live Oak Rebekah lodge No. 218. The Odd Fellows had charge of the services at the grave. The friends extend their sympathy to the relatives in this, their hour of sorrow.
