HODGES, 76, ONCE LOCAL RESIDENT, SUCCUMBS, ROSEBURG Roseburg, Ore., Nov. 22.--(AP)--Jesse G. I. Hodges, 76, pioneer eastern Washington stage driver, died here early today. Born at Grande Ronde, Ore., Jan. 4, 1864, he moved with his parents to Spokane at the age of 15 and at the age of 19 years began driving stage between Spokane and Cour d'Alene, Idaho. He was the first driver on a stage line operated later from Catholic Mission, Wash., to Wardner, Idaho. He moved to Medford in 1892, engaging in farming there for 18 years. Since 1910 he had made his home in Roseburg engaging in farming and serving for four years as a member of the city police force. Surviving are his widow and eight sons and daughters. Funeral services for Mr. Hodges, in charge of the Perl Funeral home, will be held in Roseburg at 10 a.m. Saturday. Graveside services will be held in Medford at 3 p.m. Saturday at the family plot in I. O. O. F. cemetery. A complete obituary will be published later.
