The two boys had been out hunting and were near the Jackson home,just north of Ashland,toying with the gun, and young Caseber pointed his weapon,a doubel barreled shotgun,loaded with buckshot, in fun at his companion,when in some way it was discharged. The Jackson boy was about 50 feet away and several of the eaen missiles struck him in the lower part of his body, one of them piercing the abdomen and proving the most serious wound. Mr.Jackson got abord this afternoon train and took the injured boy to the hospital at Portland after he received the best medical attention that could be rendered him here.
