All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/or/orfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sheron Faynor nitwittwin@hotmail.com April 2, 2008, 6:48 am Morning Oregonian October 30,1904 Headlong Plunge to Death Ashland,or.,Oct.29-(Special)- Roscoe Jarvis,aged 16 years,son of Mr. and Mrs. Jarvis, the boarding house keepers at the big lumber mill of the Ashland Manufacturing Company,six miles south of Ashland,on Neil Creek,was dashed to death this morning by falling from the lumbering flume to the rocks in the creek 30 feet below. The young man was employed in tending the flume which is used to float lumber from the mill to the railroad,a distance of three miles, and which at some points reaches high over the waters of Neil Creek. he in some way lost his balance, and plunged headlong and struck his heaf on the rocks belw and was instantly killed.
