J. MacDonough, passed away at their home, 617 Catherine St., Saturday evening following an illness of more than a year's duration. She was born at Dubuque, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and taught vocal music and directed church choirs until coming to Medford nearly thirty years ago and where she continued to teach. For a number of years, she directed the choir in the Methodist church here and was leader of the music in the Jacksonville grange. Music has been her vocation, and she has written many articles for the music journals and also other publications. Mrs. MacDonough was a lover of the outdoors, and spent much time in her floral gardens and because of her enthusiastic boosting for southern Oregon, more than a half dozen substantial families have located here permanently. In her native town in Iowa, she leaves hosts of friends. She was a member of the Methodist church there. Besides her husband, she leaves two nieces and one nephew, Mrs. Steve Nye of Talent; Virginia Sherwood and Clarence Jordan of Medford, also a sister-in-law, Fannie Jordan, Medford. Funeral services will be held in the Conger-Morris chapel, 2 p. m. Tuesday with the Rev. D. D. Randall officiating. Pall bearers will be: George W. Howard, F. E. Redden, Ray Lewis, E. J. Neuman, C. A. Meeker, and A. L. Vroman. Two vocal numbers, "Down in the Valley" and "Going Home," will be rendered by Mrs. George Wendt, Mrs. Otto Niedermeyer, Henry Niedermeyer and Chester Wendt. Friends desiring to pay final respects, may call at the chapel any time until 1 p.m. Tuesday. Final rites will be in the Medford I.O.O.F. cemetery.
