Mr. Owens was 79 years of age and is well known in the Willamette and Rogue River valleys. He came to Oregon from Missouri and settled in the Willamette valley in 1865, and since then has been engaged in farming and was known as one of the most successful farmers in the northwest. He is the father of nine children, five of them living in the Rogue River valley. They are: Mrs. Agnes Head and Mrs. Gregory of Central Point; John, George and James of Wellen, Or. The other four are Caleb Owens of Idaho, Mrs. Lida Brown of Polk county, Mrs. Rudy Midgley of Eugene, and Mrs. Alice Grimes of Linn county.
