He was without means and a respectable Christian burial was given him by Messrs. Thos. Collins and W. J. King, of this city, Mr. Collins having known deceased for a number of years. He was a bachelor, 67 years of age, born in Clay County, Missouri, came here from Silver Lake, Oregon, where he lived for 23 years, and where Mr. Collins first met him. He has one brother and one sister but their postoffice address is unknown. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon. The old gentleman had a great many friends in Medford and was looked upon as a quiet, honest and very generous man. One of his many acts of generosity is cited, it being that of contributing $500 to the sufferers at Silver Lake, Oregon, at the time of that town’s great fire several years ago.
