He was born at Meridosia, Ill., May 28, 1873, and at the age of four years crossed the plains with his parents, coming direct to Sam's Valley where they settled on a farm. He was married to Betta Pauline Olsson at Central Point, July 22, 1908. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Miss Thelma Pankey, Portland, and Mrs. Edwin A. Andren, Medford; one brother, Albert Pankey, Gold Hill, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Moore, Lake Creek; Mrs. Lottie Cingcade, Eagle Point, and Mrs. John Hanna, Depoe Bay, Oregon. He was fruit inspector for Jackson County and for a great many years was interested in the fruit industry of this county. Mr. Pankey was appointed postmaster at Central Point in 1934 and held that position at the time of his death. He was a man of fine character and leaves a host of friends besides his family. He was a member of the Oregon Chapter Royal Arch Masons No. 4, Jacksonville, and AF&AM of Central Point No. 135, also of Nevita Chapter, Eastern Star No. 93, Central Point. Funeral services will be held at Perl Funeral Home, Friday at 3 p.m., the Rev. D. E. Millard officiating with interment in Siskiyou Memorial Park. Services at graveside in charge of Central Point Lodge No. 135 AF&AM.
