Pankey, 87, died May 13 at the soldiers' home at Roseburg, Ore., from old age. The remains will arrive in Medford Wednesday evening. Complete obituary and funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Perl Funeral home. Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Friday, 16 Feb 1930, p. 3, c. 5 PANKEY--Jobydiah Pankey died at the Old Soldiers' home in Roseburg, Ore., May 13th, 1930, at the age of 87 years. He was born in Cass county, Illinois, in 1843, and was married to Mary A. Baldwin, January 3, 1867, at B[e]ardstown, Ill. There was born to this union 11 children, six of whom survive. Mr. Pankey came to the Rogue River valley in 1875, and settled at Central Point. For the past 18 years he has lived at the Soldiers' home in Roseburg. Mr. Pankey spent three years of very active service in the Civil war, serving with company C, 12th Illinois volunteers. He leaves to mourn his loss six children, four daughters and two sons, Mrs. Mattie Downing of Medford, Mrs. Ida Nossaman of Pagosia Springs, Colo., Mrs. Mollie Wright of Central Point, Mrs. Effie Caton of Central Point, George Pankey of Medford, Ernest Pankey of Yakima, Wash., also his twin brother, Obediah Pankey of Central Point; 16 grand children and four great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the Perl Funeral home Saturday at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Johnston of Central Point officiating. Interment in the Jacksonville cemetery.
