Pankey died at his home in Central Point May 5th from heart trouble from which he had been afflicted since last December, aged 65 years, seven months one day. He was born at Beardstown, Illinois, October 4, 1864. At the age of twelve years he came to Oregon with his parents from Illinois by way of Sacramento, Calif., and from there by immigrant train to southern Oregon, residing here for the past fifty-one years and at Central Point for forty-two years. He was married to Sarah Melissa Obenchain June 6th, 1888. To this union were born five children, four of whom survive today, Clarence and Vernon Pankey of Medford, Ore., Mrs. Robert Simington, Dunsmuir, Calif., and Mrs. Albert Stewart of Portland, Ore., and three grandchildren. Mrs. Sarah Pankey passed away in March 1923. He is also survived by three brothers and three sisters, William Pankey, Lorella, Ore., Albert Pankey, Gold Hill, Ore., Thomas Pankey, Central Point, Ore., Mrs. Russ Moore of Lake Creek, Ore., Mrs. J. L. Hanna, Eugene, Ore., Mrs. Thomas Cingcade, Eagle Point, Ore. For the last four years he has been manager of the Central Point Mutual Telephone company, from which he was obliged to retire April 1st on account of ill health. Mr. Pankey was a man of kindly character and was loved by a host of friends besides his family. He was master workman of the Central Point. A.O.U.W. lodge for a number of years, which office he held at the time of his death. Funeral services will be held at the late residence in Central Point, Wednesday, May 7th at 2 p.m., Rev. L.F.
