Peninger was born in Jackson county, February 13, 1856, and died on his farm, nine miles north of Medford, July 6, 1906. Mr. Peninger was the last survivor of ten children born to his parents, John and Mary Peninger, who crossed the plains in 1852 and settled in Jackson county. Mr. Peninger was married in 1885, and leaves three children, two daughters and a son. Mr. Peninger was an honest, upright business man, and had a wide circle of friends who will regret his death. Mr. Peninger was a member of the A. O. U. N. and K. of P. orders. The interment took place in the family burial plot in Jacksonville cemetery on Sunday, the services at the grave being conducted by the A. O. U. W. lodge of Jacksonville. The supreme master of the order, Hon. W. M. Colvig, gave a short eulogy on the deceased. Deceased was a member of Talisman Lodge No. 31, of Medford, and the funeral services were attended by several members of that lodge.
