Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Friday, 27 February 1925 
Charles Herbert Pierce, well known resident of Medford, having resided here 
for the past 20 years, passed away at his home east of Medford at 7:30 
yesterday evening, February 26, at the age of 68 years, 3 months, 16 days. Mr. 
Pierce was born at Viola, Iowa, Nov. 10, 1856. When a young man he moved to 
Brown county, Kansas, where he followed school teaching and finally became 
principal. He was married July 75 [sic], 1885, to Anna Laura Myers. To this 
union were born nine children. The following eight survive: Mrs. L. G. Gentner 
of Michigan, Mrs. E. J. Bratney, Portland; Mrs. Cecil Culbertson, Medford, L. 
B. Pierce, Roseburg; R. E. of Glendale, Calif.; G. E., Archie and Clarence, 
all of Medford; and a host of friends whose sympathy goes out to the children 
and their bereaved mother.
The Pierce family came to Medford in 1905. Funeral services will be held at 
the Conger Funeral chapel Monday at 2 p. m. Rev. D. J. Howe of the Christian 
church of which Mr. Pierce was a member since boyhood will have charge of the 
service.

Medford (Oregon) Mail Tribune, Tuesday, 3 March 1925: The funeral service of 
the late C. H. Pierce was held at Conger Funeral parlors Monday at 2 p. m., 
conducted by D. J. Howe of the Christian church and the remains were laid to 
rest in the Jacksonville cemetery.
The deceased became a member of the Christian church in early boyhood and  
continued as a faithful worker and exemplary Christian until his death, all 
the children being members of the same church. Mr. Pierce was an elder of the 
local church for many years, was the superintendent of the Sunday school and 
one of those whose devoted service and work helped hold the church together 
during its early period and hard struggle.
