M. Rodgers of this city, January 12th, will come as a shock to her many friends. Mrs. Rodgers was born in Cass county, Missouri, in 1869, and came to Oregon in 1879. She was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Briscoe, who were among the early settlers of the Rogue River valley. Mrs. Rodgers had spent the past fifty-one years in and around Medford and besides relatives, she leaves a large circle of friends who knew and loved her for her kindness to everyone. Mrs. Rodgers was born January 12, 1869, and at the time of her death she was aged sixty years. She leaves to mourn her, her husband, J. M. Rodgers of Medford, her aged mother, Mrs. Docia Briscoe of Bishop, Calif., three daughters, Mrs. Fred Brown of Lakeview, Ore., Mrs. R. M. Barker of 28 South Columbus, Medford, and Mrs. R. J. Boardman of Central Point; also three sons, Claude Rodgers of Tennant, Calif., J. E. Rodgers, 716 Cedar, Medford, and Jesse Rodgers of Lakeview, Ore. There are twelve grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. F. J. Moore of Klamath Falls, Ore., formerly of Medford; Mrs. Harry Barger of Grant's Pass, Ore.; Mrs. Ed Matlick of Bishop, Calif.; two brothers, E. D. Briscoe of Fort Klamath, Ore., and C. A. Briscoe of Bakersfield, Calif. Mrs. Rodgers was taken to the Community hospital Thursday evening, January 9th, and was ill but three days. The funeral service will be conducted from the Perl Funeral Home Wednesday, January 15th at 2:00 o'clock p.m., with Rev. W. H. Eaton officiating. Interment will follow in the Medford cemetery.
