E. Dunlap, of Talent, on the charge of abducting Miss Bertha Clark, the 15- year-old step-daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McDonald, of Ashland. The principals in the little drama were engaged to be married, but fearing the disapproval of the parents of the young lady should they be apprised of the contemplated wedding, they decided to go to Yreka to have the ceremony performed. The plans failed to carry as intended, and the couple were detained at Montague, Calif., the parents of the girl following the would-be elopers and together they all returned to Ashland Monday, where the charge preferred against Dunlap was dismissed. Later in the day they were married by Rev. F. G. Strange.
