The ranch home of 91-year-old pioneer resident Mrs. J. W. Richardson of Trail, 
was the scene July 31 of the outdoor wedding of Miss Peggy Jean Duckworth, who 
became the bride of Douglas Johnson in a ceremony before a background of 
flowers, ferns and other greenery. The bride is the great-granddaughter of 
Mrs. Richardson and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Duckworth of 
Prospect, the family coming from Grants Pass this spring. Miss Duckworth is a 
graduate of Grants Pass high school. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. 
H. Johnson of Prospect and has resided there and in Ashland since his 
discharge from the navy last year. 
Attendants at the wedding, performed by the Rev. M. A. Wilson of Prospect's 
Chapel of the Pines, were Miss Iola Duckworth, the bride's cousin, who was 
maid of honor, and Harvey Johnson, brother of the groom, who was best man. 
Miss Dorothy Duckworth, small sister of the bride, was flower girl.
Following the ceremony, held on the bride's birthday, a reception was held in 
the gardens. The three-tiered wedding cake was decorated with heirloom 
miniature dolls, which 22 years ago decorated the golden wedding anniversary 
cake of the bride's great-grandparents.
Guests at the wedding included the bride's grandparents and cousin, Mr. and 
Mrs. R. W. Richardson and Linda Richardson of Los Angeles, Mrs. Thora Poole, 
the groom's sister, of Ashland, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Duckworth and daughters and 
Miss Faye Mallory of Grants Pass, as well as friends and relatives from 
Prospect and Trail. 
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson will reside in Prospect on return from a short wedding 
trip.
