At the residence of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. O’Harra, of Central Point, on Sunday 
evening at 8:00 o’clock, Martin D. Bowers and Lelah O’Harra were united in the 
bonds of matrimony, Rev. W. T. Van Scoy performing the ceremony. The groom 
presented the bride with a diamond ring. Her dress was of crepe de chine, his 
the conventional black. Only the immediate relatives were present. The 
wedding, although a quiet one, was a pretty an[d] happy affair, unique in the 
surroundings of a beautiful home and pleasant associations. Following the 
ceremony the company was served with a repast of the rarest delicacies. Many 
valuable presents were bestowed, among them silver and china sets, also real 
estate and other gifts of great value from the parents. The bride and groom 
are both former students of the State Normal school at Ashland. Miss O’Harra 
is well known in the valley, is accomplished in music, and is a young lady of 
high culture and character. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. O’Harra, 
whose farm home is just north of Central Point. Mr. Bowers is a son of Benton 
Bowers, the well known capitalist of the Boulevard, Ashland. Martin is one of 
Ashland’s sturdy young men and is worthy of a good helpmate for life. The 
happy couple have gone camping on Jenny creek, but will return in a few days 
and make Ashland their home for a few months at least. The best wishes of many 
friends are heaped upon them.–Ashland Tidings.
