Medford (Oregon) Mail, Friday, 21 Dec 1900, Phoenix Items, p. 3, c. 2 
Mr. P. L. Simpkins of Woodville and Miss Sophronia Shields of Central Point, 
were united in marriage by Prof. A. J. Hanby at his home in Phoenix December 
19, 1900, at 7:30 o’clock a.m. But few friends were present to witness the 
happy event. The groom is one of Jackson County’s honorable, industrious and 
prosperous farmers. The fair bride has a host of friends in Central Point and 
elsewhere who wish them a long life of happiness and prosperity. The happy 
couple left immediately after the nuptial knot was tied, for Woodville, where 
they will reside for the present.
