Married--Van Scoy-Walker--In Ashland, November 1, 1917, by Rev. H. J. Van 
Fossen, and at his home, Rev. William T. Van Scoy and Mrs. Catherine S. 
Walker, a number of intimate friends forming the wedding party. Prof. Van Scoy 
has been long and favorably known in southern Oregon, due to his connection 
with various educational institutions, notably the Ashland Normal, tho [sic] 
he has ever been ready to accept the responsibility of a teacher, whether the 
call came from city or suburban districts. Faithfulness has been the keynote 
of his character both as citizen and educator. It is safe to say that he is 
the nestor [sic] of the educational profession in an extent of territory not 
limited by the boundaries of city or county. Kind and sympathetic, he has 
endeared himself to a wide circle of friends, especially the student element, 
who have ever found in him a most efficient helper. Mrs. Van Scoy came from 
Illinois and has been a resident with relatives here for some time past. She 
has also lived in the south and Mexico, as well as overseas. This happy union 
begins auspiciously and the parties to the new relation are receiving the 
heartiest of congratulations from a host of friends far and near. Mr. and Mrs. 
Van Scoy will temporarily remain in the Evans creek district, where the 
professor is teaching. At the completion of the school year they will reside 
in the Van Scoy home on Morton Street in this city.
