Davis, 58, city marshal and well-known resident of Gold Hill where he has resided for more than 40 years died suddenly from an apparent heart attack while in an automobile enroute from Medford to his home Thursday night. Mr. and Mrs. Davis accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Kell also of Gold Hill, attended a show in Medford and upon leaving the theater, Mr. Davis spoke of experiencing difficulty in breathing, but after starting home seemed better. While ascending the Blackwell hill, Mrs. Davis noticed his head drop forward and raised the alarm, but he expired in a few seconds. He was born at Eagle Point Sept. 27, 1877 and has lived his entire lifetime of 58 years in this county. Of pioneer parents he was a son of Mr. and Mrs. James F. Davis. His mother was born in Ashland 76 years ago. Besides his wife, Rena M. Davis, he leaves two children, Merritt Gerald Davis of Gold Hill and Lulu F. Of Medford. Also his aged mother, Lulu Davis and one sister, Pearl Ferguson both of Gold Hill. Funeral services with Conger Funeral parlors in charge, will be conducted by the Rev. D. E. Millard at the I. O. O. F. Hall in Gold Hill at 2:00 p. m. Monday. Interment in the Gold Hill cemetery.
