A resident of Josephine county all his life, he had been in critically failing health for some time. Death was almost instant, said Sheriff E. H. Lister, in quoting Dr. W. A. Moser. The two men went to the scene when a call was received at the sheriff's office from Mrs. Neely, neighbor of the McCallisters. The act occurred in an upstairs room of the McCallister home. A 30-30 rifle was near the body. Mrs. McCallister was downstairs at the time, said Sheriff Lister. She heart the shot and ran upstairs. Seeing what had happened, she hurried to the Neely home to have word sent to Grant's Pass. Mr. McCallister is survived by his widow, Mrs. Zettie McCallister; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Annie Murray of Grant's Pass, Mrs. Ollie Odin of Wimer, Mrs. Ella Young of Kerby, Alonza and George McCallister of Grant's Pass.
