He was married to Minerva Bryan, on May 15, 1873. They made their home in Illinois until they came west in 1879, by emigrant train, settling at Williams in April, 1887, and resided there until the time of his death, October 6, 1936, at the age of 89 years, 8 months, 21 days. Mr. Pence united with the Church of the Brethren in 1913, in which faith he lived a consistent and consecrated life. His wife preceded him in death three years ago. The surviving children are: Charles W., Sadie E., and Lida J. Pence, all of Grant's Pass; Mrs. Clara M. Sturgeon of Portland; John T. Pence of Klamath Falls; Raymond Pence, and Mrs. Alice A. Morton of Medford. Besides his children he leaves 17 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Thursday at 2 p.m. by M. C. Lininger of Ashland and interment was in Granite Hill cemetery.
