PENCE, Nellie (Applegate), Eugene (Oregon) Morning Register,
Friday, 7 August 1914, p. 8   Mrs. Nellie A. Pence, of San Diego,
California, daughter of Mrs. J. M. Shelley and the late Albert
Applegate, of Douglas county, died at her mother's residence, 214
Eleventh avenue east, at 5 o'clock a.m. yesterday.

Mrs. Pence was a member of the pioneer Applegate family of
Douglas county and was well known in Eugene, where she
frequently visited her relatives and lived here when a girl. Besides
her mother, Mrs. J. M. Shelley, she leaves her husband, A. S.
Pence, her son, Richard Pence, three sisters, Mrs. Mercy Holland,
Mrs. Lulu Hartley and Miss Irene Applegate, and three brothers,
Grant Applegate, Fred Applegate, and Albert Applegate.
