Whited Enos B. WHITED was born in Des Moines, Iowa, May 24, 1849, and died at his home in this city July 7, 1913, at the age of 64 years, 1 month and 14 days. When about 17 years of age he crossed the plains in company with his father and the family settled in California. He was united in marriage to Miss Malinda KAUBLE in the year 1874, and the following year, with his bride, moved to Oregon. They resided in various places in the Willamette Valley -- at Harrisburg and Crawfordsville -- and at length took up their permanent residence in Brownsville, where at the good age of three score and four he was residing at the time of his death. Four children were born to the union -- two boys and two girls. The former preceded their father in death and the latter are still alive. They are Miss Ina WHITED and Mrs. Will TEMPLETON, who were with their parents at the time of his demise. He leaves also three sisters and two brothers, as follows: Mrs. COATES, of Anneheim, Calif.; Mrs. JOHNSON, of Tenino, Wash.; Mrs. HARGROVE, of Mendocino, Calif.; and Robert WHITED, of Boonsville, Calif.; and Elmore WHITED, of Tenino, Wash. Mr. Whited's father, R.B. WHITED, died in California a few days preceding his son's death, on July 1, 1913, at the age of 89 years. Besides the above mentioned, there remains behind one granddaughter, Miss Goldie PEARL, and the bereaved wife. Mr. Whited was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Brownsville and died in the faith. He had many friends, because his pleasant disposition made him a pleasant companion and his Christian honesty made him loyal wherever his friendship centered. He bore his suffering patiently and uncomplainingly. For many days the relatives and friends knew that the end was not far off, yet he himself always lived in the hope of recovery. But the body weakened by the fatal malady and the lack of nourishment which his system compelled him to forego, finally severed the slender cord of life and he died in the body but is alive in the Spirit. Relatives, friends and the bereaved of his immediate family have the blessed comfort that their loved one has entered that sphere of being where suffering never comes; where sorrow and sighing flee away, and the exhalted hope that according to the promises of their common Lord they shall meet again in that land of endless day. The funeral was conducted from the First Presbyterian Church by the pastor, Rev. C.F. KOEHLER, on Wednesday forenoon at 10 o'clock, followed by interment in the Alford Cemetery near Harrisburg. --- Card of Thanks --- We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all the kind friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our beloved husband, father and grandfather. And for the many beautiful flowers. Mrs. E. Whited. Miss Ivy Whited. Mr. and Mrs. Will Templeton. Miss Goldie Pearl.
