Services were held in St Francis Cathedral in Baker and interment was Mt Hope Cemetery at Bake. He was a teacher in the Vale Grade School from 1937 through 1940 where he organized the first grade school band. He taught in the Union high school here in 1944-1945. He served as president of the Vale Farm Bureau from 1950 until 1952 and was elected in 1952 to the presidency of the county farm Bureal. - Malheur Enterprise. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- January 29, 1953 Mrs. Ethel Fay Wallace, 62, died in a payette hospital wednesday. She was born in the state of washington april 30, 1890. Mrs Wallace Came to the Payette community from Emmett in 1934. Surviving her are a son Vernon E Wallace of Blackfoot Idaho, two brothers Herbert Alsop of Washington and Meil or Mell G Alsop of Payette. Services will be announced by the shaffer memory chapel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- February 2, 1953 SALEM - Van Ogle Kelley passed away in Portland January 29 while attending the three day annual convention of the nation hop growers association. The meeting was held in portland January 29-31. Mr Kelley was a former ontario hop farmer. Two years ago (R M *unreadable*) purchased tghe kelley farm and Mr Kelley retired. He is a late resident of Sumner Wash. Services are being conducted today, Monday, at 1:30pm in the W. T. Rigdon Chapel with concluding services at City View Cemetery with the Rev. Dudley Strain officiating. He is survived by his wife Sharlotte kelley of Sumner: brother Frank Kelley, four nephews and one niece. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Februrary 9, 1953 Mrs Mary Alice Stuart, 85, passed away in Ontario at the home of her son, James Stuart. She had lived in this community since October. She was born at Weatherford, Texas, Sept 29, 1867. She was a memeber of the Christian Science Church. Services are being conducted today, Monday at 10am at the Beechler Memorial Chapel in Ontario. mrs Geo Glenn, Christian Science reader, will officiate. Interment is at Evergreen. Casket bearers are Herman Springen, Arnold Springen, Walter Fairbanks, John Beurman, Harold Mallett and Amos DeJamel. Survivors are two daughters Mrs pauline Ward of Seattle and Mrs Virbinia Womack of Los Angeles; Two sons E. E. Stuart of Gillette, Wyoming; and James Stuart of Ontario; fibe grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.' NYSSA - A.C Henderson, 70, died friday night at Adrian. Services are being held today, Monday at 1pm in the Adrian Presbyterian Church. Graveside Services are at Emmett at 3:15pm under direction of Lienkaemper. Mr Henderson had lived in the Adrian Community for the pas 6 years. He was born September 20, 1882 in Florence, Colo. He came to Idaho 43 years ago and had lived at Emmett and Notus. The farmer by Occupation had been a janitor at the school in Adrian until last spring. Surviving are his wife, Mrs Mary Henderson of Adrian' 5 daughters` Mrs Lorraine Glenon and Mrs Doris Bonde of Emmett, Mrs Anna Sparks and Mrs Ruth Looney of Adrian; and Mrs Zola Coon of Notus; two sisters, Mrs Ruth Pitts of emmett and Mrs Anna Glaze of Redding, Calif; a brother George Henderson of Colburn, Colo and 9 grandchildren. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- February 12, 1953 George Calvin Fite, 47 passed away in Ontario Tuesday morning. He had been a Vale resident for the past seven years. Mr. Fite was born in Hrrison, Arkansas, February 15, 1905. Survivors are his son, Ltd. John C Fite of the US Marine Corp; a sister, Mrs Lucille Hamm of Harrison, Arckansas; and a brother Kirby of Little Rock, Ark. Serives will be announced by Beechler Funeral Home. WILLOWCREEK - George Herbert Ricker, 84, passed away in Ontario Februay 10. He was a long time resident of Malheur County. He was a stockmen and rancher of the Willowcreek Community. Mr ricker was born at Bangor Maine. Nov 7 1868. He is survived by his wife, Mabel of Willowcreek; two sister, Mrs. Jeannette Baird of Walla Walla and Mrs Elizabeth Stacey of Boise; and one brother, Frank of Union. Services wiill be conducted in Vale Friday, February 13, at 2pm from the Vale Beechler Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Raymond Wilson will officiate and vault interment will follow at Valley View Cemetery. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- March 2, 1953 Serices for Andrew Peter Anderson, 73, were held at the Lienkaemper Chapel in Nyssa Saturday at 2pm with the Rev. H.G. McAlister Officiating. Interment was in Nyssa Cemetery. Mr Anderson, who died Wednesday at the Maleur Memorial Hospital, was born in Denmark July 11, 1879. A retired farmer, he had lived in the Nyssa community for the past 20 years. He is survived by his widow, Augusta of Nyssa and by two sons, Charles of Nyssa and William of California. DIES HERE Mrs. Sumi Kurakawa, 25, died in Ontario sunday Evening. Serives are beiing arranged by the Beechler Funeral chapel of Ontario., ---------------------------------------------------------------------- March 12, 1953 Mary Ellen Jones, 77, passed away in a Caldwell hospital March 9 after a long illness. She was born on June 9, 1875, at Hendersonville, North Carlolina. For the past 21 years she ahd lived in Parma. Surviving are two daughters Mrs Ethel A Nichols of rural Parma and Anna Jones of Lewiston Idaho and one son, George Jones of Pride, Idaho. Serives are being held today, Thursday, at the Parma Community Church at 2pm and interment is at the Parma Cemetery under direction of the Leinkaemper Funeral Home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Argus Mar 16, 1953 Mrs. MMinnie Anita Erixson/Erexson, 63, passed away at her home on Route 2, Ontario, Sunday. She was born in Gothenburg, Nebraska on Sept 29, 1889. Mrs. Erixson was married to Oliver Erixsson at Minneapolis Minnesota on June 20 1926. Mrs Erixson was a member of the order of Eastern Star and Daughters of Rebekah. She had been a resident of this community for the past 16 years.. Funeral Arrangements are pending at Beechler Funeral Home awaiting arrival of out of town relatives. Survivors are her husband, Oliver Erixson of Ontario; two daughters Mrs. Wilma Salem of Akron Ohio and Mrs Larrane Jones of Medford, Oregon, two brothers Fred and Walter Olsen of gothenburg Nebraska; two sisters Mrs Irma Orman of Denver and Mrs Mabel Austin of Newcastle Wyoming; and 6 grandchildren. Services for Mrs Leula Dean Keska, 70 will be held tuesday at 2pm at the Shaffer Memory Chapel. The Rev Bert Iddins will officiate and interment will be at Riverside. Mrs Keska died Saturday in a Payette Nursing Home, after a long illness. She was born Dec 22, 1882 in Iowa and was married at New Meadows to Frank Keska on June 16, 1931. She lived for sometime in New Plymouth and has been in Payette for the last two years. She was a member of the Christian Church. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs Maude Bowlby and Mrs Harriett Christensen, both of portland; three borthers james clevenger of springfiled, Or and Asbury Clevener of Bellingham, Wash and two step children. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- March 23, 1953 Edro Maria Lequerica, 59 of Jordan Valley, Passed away. Requiem high mass will be said at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Jordan Valley Wednesday at 10am. The Rev. Fr. Mathias will be officiate andinterment will be at Jordan Valley under direction of Peckham-Dakan Chapel. Survovors are a brother, Timoteo Lequerica of Jordan Valley, three nephews John, Harry and Rufus. Lequerica, all of Arock; and three nieces, mars Connie Stitzel of Arock, Mrs Elizabeth Smith of Brognan and Mrs Josephine Arritola of Boise. Hipolito Mendazona, 48, died at his ranch home at Nyssa Thursday. Services will be held at the Ontario Catholic Church. Tuesday at 10am. The rosary will be recited from the Lienkaemper chapel at Nyssa tonight, Monday at 8pm. Mr Mendazona was born on june 9, 1904 in spain and came to Malheur county and settled in 1920. Survivors include hs wife, henrietta Mendazona, one son, four daughters, all of Nyssa, three brothers George, Jack and Ray, all of ontaro and one brother and one sister both living in Span. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- March 26, 1953 Word was recieved in Jordan saturday of the sudden death of Mrs Sabina Quintana, 68 of Homedale, route 1, who passed away at her home suffering a heart attack. She was born on February 19, 1885 at Oleta, Spain and was married Feb 14, 1905 in Spain to Emeterio Quintana. They came to Boise from spain in 1907. From there they moved to Silver City and then to Flint Idaho where they owned a ranch and were in the cattle and sheep business. They still own this ranch but for the past several years have lived near Homedale. THey have been residents of Owyhee County for the past 40 years. She was a member of the Catholic church.'Srvivors besides her hsuband Ementerio Quintana, are 3 sons, Mitchell, Benn and Him of Homedal; five daughters Mrs Santa Salove, Mrs Mary Birmingham, mrs Pearl Panzeri, Mrs Lily Baylock and Mrs Emeline McConnel all of Masing; one brother, Ben Aspire of Marsin and two sisters Mrs delores Gaviola of Marsing and Miss Liboria Aspire of Spain and 9 grandchildren. Serives for Mrs Quintana were held Wednesday at 10am at Nampa St paul's Catholic church and interment was in Mount Calvary cemetery in Nampa under the direction of Alsip chapel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- March 30, 1953 Services for Sarah Isabell Cor*iss, 81, who died suddently thursday morning, are being held today monday, at beechler memorial chapel at 2pm. The rev Emil J Helseth is officiating and intermit is at Evergreen. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- April 2. 1953 William Wallace letson, former ontario jeweler and a member of Acacia Lodge No. 118 A.F & A.M., died frieday at santa maria, california. A Masonic ritual marked his burial there monday. Mr.Letson operate jewelry stores in ontario and Payette. Records of the Masonic lodge here show that he became a member in 1916 and he left ontario about 1930. Mrs. Letson was Worthy Grand Matron for the Easter Star lodge ofr Oregon while the Letsons lived in Ontario. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Argus Apr 27 53 NYSSA Macario Ayala Sandoval, 50, passed away sunday afternoon in Nyssa while sitting in a car on the street with two companions. He had been a resident of Mexico. The two companions drove the stricken man to the lienkaemper funeral home where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The man died of natural causes, Malheur county coroner George Beechler reported after investigating the death. James Edward Long, 89 passed away in Ontario Friday, april 24. He had lived in Malheur county for the past 70 years. Mr Long was a retired famer. he was born in Linn county, Miss. March 1, 1864. Services were conducted firday and interment was at Evergree cemetery under the direction of Beechler Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Nora of Ontario and two daughters, mrs Altha Anderson aof brogan and Mrs Wilma billups of Weiser. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- April 16,1953 Graveside Services for Linda Sue Hale, 14 day old daughter of Mr and Mrs Floyd L Hale are beign conducted today, thursday, at the Nyssa Cemetery at 2pm. The baby passed away in Boise on April 14. Survivors are the parents and one brother. --- END ---
