Mr. Penick, who was 79 years old on the 12th of June last, is poorly and his 
relatives fear his time is brief.

Jacob Penick, who had been a sufferer from kidney trouble for the past ten 
years, died Wednesday night and was buried yesterday. He was 79 years, 4 months 
and 9 days old, and was a native of Missouri, where he resided up to 1876, 
moving thence to the Grand Ronde, and finally into this valley seven years ago. 
Mrs. Penick desires to thank friends and neighbors for the sympathy and 
assistance extended to here in this affliction, and assures them of her 
appreciation.
