WILSON NYSSA-Alice L. Wilson, 92, of Nyssa, died Wednesday at a Nyssa nursing home. Services will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. at the Lienkaemper Chapel in Nyssa by the Rev. Darwin Secord of the United Methodist Church of Nyssa. Interment will be in the Nyssa Cemetery. She was born Jan. 7, 1886, at Salem, Neb. She graduated from Northwestern College in Naperville, Ill, with a bachelor’s degree in physiology. She taught science and mathematics at the Lewiston, Ill., High School for three years before moving to Nyssa, where she taught at Nyssa High School. She married Ernest Wilson June 14, 1916, at Nyssa. He died in 1960. She became a resident of the Nyssa Nursing Home in 1966. She was elected chairman of the Nyssa School Board in 1934, and served four terms as chairman. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Nyssa and a past matron of Golden Rule Chapter No. 131, Order of Eastern Star. She was well known in the Nyssa area for her rose gardens and watercolor paintings. Surviving are two sons, Robert R. and Lloyd A., both of Nyssa; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Calvin. Friends may call at the chapel from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today. Memorials may be made to the Nyssa Nursing Home.
