Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Summers Funeral Home, 1205 W. Bannock St. in Boise. Dick was born Dec. 11, 1932 in Nyssa, Ore., to Barney and Edith Wilson. He graduated from Nyssa High School, and later the University of Arizona. He participated in many sports activities while growing up and throughout college. After college he played semi-professional baseball, and was drafted by some professional baseball teams. Dick served in the Army during the Korean War. After the war, he returned to Nyssa to work for the family grocery store chain, Wilson's Warehouse Markets, which was started in Nyssa in 1912. He later retired from the family business in 1985, while living in Nampa, Idaho. Dick was instrumental in starting the little league program in Nyssa in the early 1960's. He enjoyed working with kids, and educating them through sports. Throughout his life, he was an avid fly fisherman. He enjoyed fishing in many western states including Alaska, where he went with his brother Phil. He has been a member of the Boise Valley Fly Fishing Federation for many years. After retiring, Dick enjoyed gardening and lawn work around their house, with Billie, his wife of 12 years. He became a Master Gardner with the Ada County Extension Office, and volunteered his time helping people with their gardening problems. Dick was well liked amongst the business associates, friends, family, and acquaintances through fishing and gardening, and his time with family business. He had a good sense of humor, and had the ability to make some of the most monotonous things in life comical. Through his satiric sense of humor, he built many life long friendships. He was a man of few words, but had much integrity. A simple man, whom simply enjoyed life for what it was. Dick is survived by his wife Billie Berria-Wilson of Boise; a son, Rich Wilson of Nampa; stepson, Steve Pecora of Soap Lake, Wash., and a step-daughter, Jan Moffis of Lancaster, Ohio. Dick had 17 grandchildren. Dick is preceded in death by his mother, Edith Wilson; father Barney Wilson; brother, Huston Wilson; brother Philip Wilson and his prized dog and close friend, Sammi. The family requests no flowers, but suggests memorials to the Nyssa High School Athletics Program, 804 Adrian Blvd., Nyssa, OR, 97913.
